40 Firefighters Control 2-Alarm Blaze That Injured 1, Damaged Fair Lawn Home: Police

A two-alarm fire left a Fair Lawn family's home damaged and sent one firefighter to the hospital Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 23, authorities said.

Firefighters were called to the home on the 35 block of Lindwood Road at approximately 2:40 p.m., where smoke and flames were found in the back of the home, local police said.

A second alarm was transmitted, bringing a mutual aid response to the borough. Fire crews from Paterson, Saddle Brook, Elmwood Park, and Paramus staffed Fair Lawn fire stations during the fire call and responded to one additional call while providing coverage.

The fire was placed under control approximately 20 minutes later and all fire units cleared the scene by 4:10 p.m. 

A firefighter was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with a minor injury.

In addition to the second alarm fire crews, the Fair Lawn Police Department, the Fair Lawn Rescue Squad, the Fair Lawn Office of Emergency Management and the Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corp provided assistance on scene.

The fire brought approximately 40 firefighters to the scene. The fire is under investigation by the Fair Lawn Fire Prevention Bureau.
